THOUGHTS:
A delightfully joyful tribute/deconstruction of Hollywood musical comedies in gorgeous technicolor. One of Godard’s funniest movies, with plenty of visual and musical gags, references to the Nouvelle Vague (Breathless, Shoot the Piano Player, and Jules and Jim), and the occasional breaking of the fourth wall. It seems to encompass the “anything is possible” spirit of the New Wave at its peak.
