Thoughts:
Heart-achingly wonderful film about a boy who ventures, in an adult world that’s mysterious and confounding to him, to perform a small act of compassion and loyalty. The visuals are superb and the music delightful. Kiarostami contrasts the child’s view of the world with the strict, more questionable values and beliefs of the older generations of people he encounters. The final scene moved me profoundly. So simple, but so beautifully effective.
