THOUGHTS:

An excellent film about gentrification, but also about the myths we tell ourselves to survive. Beautiful, funny, poignant, and visionary. A movie that was gorgeous to look at and listen to, even while it might my heart ache. The acting was exceptional: I adored every character, genuinely. Loved the inclusion of classic California pop songs in altered versions, particularly the sequence with Joni Mitchell’s “Blue”. Too many great scenes to name, but the main character begging for bank loan really hit with a punch.
