The Kid

GRADE:  9.5

The Tramp cares for an abandoned child, but events put that relationship in jeopardy.

Director: Charles Chaplin
Country of Origin: USA

Thoughts:

It’s not quite his funniest film, or his most touching, but it’s pretty damn close on both fronts, and it’s bravura mix of comedy and pathos make it the template for his future masterpieces. The scenes between Charlie and the Kid are all wonderful, but it’s Chaplin’s determined race across the rooftops to collect his despairing charge that takes the cake.
