THOUGHTS:

Instantly joins the ranks of the better Stephen King adaptations, with plenty of creepiness, tension, and mystery. Like Misery, it’s driven by a power struggle, putting the viewer in the role of the captive victim; but unlike Misery, it’s got some genuine subtext undergirding it—toxic masculinity. This theme gets a little heavy-handed at times, threatening to take the movie down a tv drama-of-the-week road, but mostly the film clicks, particular in its first half.
