Enduring Love

About a science writer, Joe Rose, whose life is upended by a chance encounter with a stranger, Jed Parry, after a tragic ballooning accident. Parry develops a powerful, delusional obsession with Joe, believing they share a mutual love, which leads him to stalk Joe and unravel his life, testing Joe’s rationalism and threatening his relationship with his wife, Clarissa. The novel explores themes of love, obsession, and the conflict between scientific reason and irrational belief, as Joe tries to understand and cope with the pathological horror of Parry’s fixation, which may stem from de Clérambault’s syndrome.
